For all young people to thrive, we must dismantle racism in education.

With kids being harmed every day in systems that perpetuate injustice, we can’t let up. This is an all-in, full-on effort.

So who has time for storytelling?

I get it. And yet, what’s a movement for change without stories?

Compelling messages catalyze, transform, and amplify. They’re an essential tool for imagining and framing the case for systemic change.

I can help sustain and expand your changemaking efforts by communicating the impact and value of your work, so you’ll be freed up to put more of your creative energy into upholding the promise of educational equity.

About me

I come to this work with a passion for liberatory education and storytelling for social change.

I bring more than two decades of experience in writing, classroom teaching, and nonprofit development and communications to the cause of educational justice. My particular gifts are listening deeply, facilitating collaborative processes, and using inspiring, precise, and accessible language to help move the needle toward meaningful change.

Currently based in the Pacific Northwest, my roots and interests extend broadly but always come back to the transformational power of education and creativity. I earned an MA in Italian Literature from Stanford University and co-founded Airlie Press, a successful nonprofit poetry publishing company in Portland, Oregon. I served as Community Engagement Coordinator while on the faculty at Portland Community College and developed a social-advocacy writing curriculum for nontraditional students. I spent several recent years in Maine, doing writing and development work in rural education. While there, I helped raise over $5 million to support whole-child, trauma-informed programming in rural schools.
